Hi WHERE blog readers. I’m Nicole, the newest member of the marketing team at WHERE, and I’m pretty pumped to take on the role of helping you better connect with WHERE. Got an idea for a new feature or type of content? Let me know and I can take it to the product team and get them working on it. Although I just started, I’ve already realized that the WHERE team is truly dedicated to providing you with the best local search, discovery and recommendation experience while you’re on the go.
At WHERE, we know that your needs and desires for info from your mobile device are always changing, so we are constantly making improvements to the app to better fit your needs. For example, we know what you search for most often within the application, and that the three most popular brands searched for among all WHERE users in 2009 were Walmart, Target and Pizza Hut. Learning about what brands you’re looking for helps us figure out what you really want from WHERE. Now we can take all this information and use it to further tailor WHERE to meet your needs.
We also received recognition this week from AlwaysOn, which honored us with an OnMedia Top 100 award in the category of Best Next Generation Search Technology Company. Living up to the title, we will soon be launching a new “next generation search” feature. Watch the video for a sneak peek, and stay tuned for more details when the feature goes live on the iPhone in just a few weeks…
I’ve got an open-ended Partner-type question. I run several startups, and one is focused on the intersection of Facebook, MySpace and Google Apps, for the educational space, but with a focus on the whole community. We’ve been developing this with the local school system, a 28,000 person State university, and the local Town. We have developed applications that deal with social calendaring, alerting, groups, classmates, etc. One of our big near term launches into the beta is via a pretty big facebook app that will link MySpace, Facebook, and Google Apps together in a Facebook application for students to use to deal with their classes, clubs, organizations, and communities on campus. One of the things I am investigating now is how best to integrate LBS. I’ve been talking to the carriers, also aggregators like Loc-Aid, and others to see how we can best develop cool location-aware apps for students. I did not see any partner program on your site, or any developer zone, or other means for third parties to take advantage of your application deployment. Do you have such a model? How might your application work with what I’ve described? Happy to provide more detail at 860-429-0100, dbriere@telechoice.com.
