How do I reorder tabs?

You can reorder the tabs to whatever your preference is. So, your “My Drives” can be the first thing you see when you load up the app. To do this, tap on the “More” tab, then tap the “Edit” button in the top right. Drag the “MyTraffic” icon from up top to the tab bar on the bottom. Once it’s on the tab bar you can rearrange the order there. Finally, tap “Done” in the right hand corner. This will let you have the “MyTraffic” tab more easily accessible. Whichever tab you make the left most on the tab bar will be what is launched when you start the app.

How accurate is my GPS Location in WHERE?

Typically, GPS is accurate to within a city block of your current physical location. If you are indoors (or in an obstructed location) or your network provider is having problems, your GPS Location may only be accurate to your current city area; in a worst-case scenario, if your provider got an Assisted GPS Fix, your location may only be accurate to the nearest Cell Tower.

If you feel your GPS Location is inaccurate, the best thing you can do is restart WHERE and try again. You can also try disabling GPS on your Handset and entering your Location manually (when prompted).

I entered a full street address manually and the street number incorrect. What’s going on?

When you enter a Location manually, WHERE tries to Geocode it and link it to a latitude/longitude coordinate. However, it is not uncommon for a Geocoded (lat, lng) rounded to 6-8 decimal places to be slightly off. This may result in the street address being slightly off, such as “58 Canal Street” instead of “60 Canal Street”, which is not uncommon behavior in GPS-based applications.

Do I need an unlimited data plan to use WHERE?

No, you don’t need one, but we do suggest it. Every time you use WHERE, you are accessing pages over your phone’s network. Therefor, the more you use WHERE, the more data you consume. If you’re interested in downloading WHERE and are unsure of your current dataplan, we strongly suggest you contact your carrier to make sure you’ve got the plan you need to accommodate your data usage.

If I get a new phone, how do I reload WHERE on my phone?

On most mobile carriers, when you purchase a new phone you will have to re-subscribe to any applications such as WHERE that you previously had on your phone. For instructions on how to subscribe, please see the question ‘How Do I Get WHERE on my Phone?’.

Once you’re subscribed to the WHERE application on your phone, you can change your phone model by visiting www.where.com and clicking on the ‘Change my phone model’ link at the bottom of the page.

Why does WHERE collect my email address and phone number on the www.where.com website?

WHERE collects your phone number on the web site so we know which phone you are using when you manage your widgets. Some widgets may also use your phone number to send you opt-in text message alerts about things you’ve chosen to hear about.

WHERE collects your email address as an extra layer of security so that you can request a new password or PIN. We may also send you occasional emails regarding system updates. At times, we may also send you notice of new features unless you choose to opt-out of marketing communications.
