What is the Google Cupcake?

If you have been keeping up with the Tech news or been on Twitter today (#IO2009), you are likely to see a lot of news come through about the Google Android Platform and Cupcake update. Google is currently holding their I/O developer conference in San Francisco. (Be sure to say Hi to Lacy & Matt from WHERE)
The Google Cupcake is an update, version 1.5, now available for the Google Android mobile platform. Some of the new features include a virtual on-screen keyboard for touch-screen phones and video uploads to YouTube. Google has also added voice recognition, more background images & icons, and revamped the mobile browser allowing it to display more complex Web pages.
WHERE Android Developer, Ivan Mitrovic, recently spoke to Forbes Magazine about the Android Cupcake and how he planned to integrate the new features in the app. Speech recognition was on the top of his priority list.
“uLocate Communications (parent company of the WHERE applciation) will build a widget and integrate speech recognition into “Where,” its suite of location-based services.” said Ivan Mitrovic, President of Engineering at WHERE.
Word on the street is that Google already has a 2.0 version of the Android platform out and tech gurus and developers are anxious to see what’s in store. Code word? Donut
