where-droid.jpg We are happy to announce that the WHERE mobile application has officially launched on the Motorola DROID. WHERE has been specifically designed for the device to fully optimize its high-resolution screen, other advanced native features, and Android™ 2.0. It also includes the new WHERE Brand Bar, a customizable store locator for user’s favorite retail locations, and Spotlight, which delivers recommendations to users based on their location, time of day, and the type of content the consumer is seeking (e.g. restaurants, businesses or movies).

Currently 25 percent of all Android users have downloaded WHERE. Over 15,000 users have written reviews, with an average rating of 4.6.

Recent reviews in the Android Market include:

“Far and away the best app on the Market right now!”

“Best app ever! This thing has everything you could want and more. Where makes the G1 a must have!”

“Everything in 1 app. It’s awesome and quick…this app should get an award.”

WHERE is available as a free download from the Android Market in the Travel Category and is a Featured App: http://www.android.com/market/featured.html#app=where.

I just got the Droid, my first android phone, and love the Where app.

Only one problem I am experiencing…when I am in the movies section, and click to buy tickets, it just keeps trying to load the page and never loads it. Everything else in the app seems to work fine. Any help would be appreciated, as I would love to be able to buy tickets through this feature.

Chris says:

@Jon Glad you are loving WHERE and hopefully the Droid ;) The 3rd party site that hosts the ticket purchasing aspect of movies was down. We are in contact with them currently and hopefully it will be resolved by time you see this. Thanks again for using WHERE!

Jon says:

Thanks Chris. I will keep on the look out for the fix. And yes, I am LOVING the Droid as well. As of know the movie link is still not working (12pm PST on 11/12) but will keep checking back knowing that you guys are working on a fix. I figured it was the site and not my connection, just wanted to be certain.

Thanks!

I did not download the Where app but a colleague brought it to my attention by showing me a tweet that I issued a few days ago.

Please STOP indexing my information or tell me how I can set this up so my information does not appear when someone searches ‘nearby’ in the Where app. This is outrageous and I don’t want to be forced into pursuing legal action.

Chris says:

@Tyler We are not indexing your information. What you are seeing is a function of Twitter. Whatever Twitter service (3rd party included) you are using is geotagging your tweets. A geotagged tweet can be found simply by searching near your location at search.twitter.com (and through many Twitter apps and Twitter-api using apps) and is not a function unique to our app. If you go to http://twitter.com/account/settings and look for the Location section, you can set your location privacy there.

Chris,

Any updates on the purchase movie tickets functionality? The site still never loads for me on my droid. I thought this was going to be fixed several daya ago…very frustrating. Thanks.
