Sprint & WHERE WAP ServiceToday WHERE announced an expansion of their partnership with Sprint which now includes location-enabled WAP service on data-enabled Sprint phones.

What is WAP?

WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol, but in laymans terms, WAP allows users to access the internet from their mobile devices.  Location based WAP allows users to access the internet and get information about their local area without ever having to input the street, city or zip code into their mobile phone. Thanks to Sprint’s network based location, even phones which do not have GPS built in will be able to access the information.

Sprint subscribers can visit m.where.com from their mobile phone to get locally relevant information from popular content providers, Yelp, Eventful, Zipcar and many other sources.
