Mandatory Cell Phone Purchases for Colleges?!
Better safe than sorry right? That is a viewpoint currently being shared by the head honchos at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. In light of the recent and extremely horrific school shootings taking place around the United States, they believe every student should have to purchase a GPS-enabled cell phone before enrolling.
Wow. According to the article I just read,
“…students can use a timer that instantly alerts campus police if not deactivated within a set amount of time, assurance for those crossing the campus late at night. In an emergency, the GPS technology can be activated instantly to alert police. The university contracted with New York-based Rave Wireless for the safety technology and Sprint for the cell phone service.”
Working for a company like WHERE makes me excited that we’re at the forefront of technology Just like this. So many of our widgets are pushing the boundaries of the tech and it’s amazing to see what comes out every single week. Stay tuned, but sound off on how you feel about these “mandatory” purchases!
